autumn in new york.

a couple of years ago, i wrote and dreamt in an old blog from my room in austin about autumns in new york, inserting scenes of ‘sex and the city’ to emphasize the magnitude of this hope. with a little imagination, i could picture myself walking down the city streets in heels and kicking them off upon entering my home, falling exhaustedly onto a sofa, only momentarily sitting up to sip wine, and watch the sun set while jazz played in the background. all the while reveling in the wonders of working in publishing.
fast-forward a few years, and here i am, at the junction between dreams and reality. heels off, on my living room sofa, listening to the latest indie hit, anthony bourdain pondering portland in the background, sipping on water (not wine), typing away on my mac (sadly, not a typewriter), and thinking about tomorrow’s work day in the wonderful world of… (is this real ?) publishing.
and now it’s autumn, in the city of dreams no less, a season during which you start finding yourself reflective of the year’s adventures, in which the leaves fall in slow delicate showers of gold and crimson, where the home is made warmer by the crisp breeze outside… and i find myself incredibly thankful. i think i’m going to celebrate thanksgiving a little longer this year.
